First blog post

Since my research is largely centered on forgotten or neglected women writers of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, I frequently find myself doing a lot of “detective work” in order to track down out-of-print titles so I actually have something to write about. Sometimes, this means making numerous interlibrary loan requests, but for many authors, whose novels and collections of short stories may exist in only a handful of (non-lending) libraries worldwide, I end up buying a personal copy.

So what started out as an academic necessity has now turned into a hobby, and I find myself with a fairly large collection of British women’s popular fiction books (many in original dust jackets). I hope to use this blog to share some of these books with a wider audience, as well as sharing some information on the women who wrote them.

Stay tuned!
